The Department of Meteorology has announced that intermittent showers can be expected today (27) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Southern Provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
It further stated that heavy showers, exceeding 50 mm in certain places, are likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Light showers may also occur in the Northern and North-Central Provinces and in the Matale, Mannar, and Jaffna districts.
Strong winds, ranging between 40–50 km/h, are expected at times in the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Central, Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The Department has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of accidents that could be caused by strong winds.
