Published:

The Department of Meteorology has forecast intermittent showers today (25) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya.

Some areas may experience heavy rainfall of around 100 mm. Light showers are also possible in the North-Central Province. In addition, showers or thundershowers may occur after 2:00 p.m. in parts of the Uva Province, and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

Strong winds, with speeds of 40–50 km/h, are expected at times in the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Central, Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks from lightning strikes, temporary strong winds, and other hazards associated with thundershowers.
