ICC Suspends USA Cricket’s Membership

Published:

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to suspend the membership of USA Cricket with immediate effect.

The decision was taken following a meeting of the ICC held yesterday (23).

According to reports, the suspension was imposed due to repeated and continuous breaches of obligations by USA Cricket as a member under the ICC Constitution.

However, it has been clarified that this suspension will not affect the participation of the United States national cricket team in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February, or in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

At the ICC Annual General Meeting held in July, USA Cricket had been given three months to conduct “free and fair elections” and to implement “significant governance reforms.” This suspension comes two months after that directive was issued.

The ICC has also warned USA Cricket that it retains the authority to take any further action deemed necessary, depending on the progress of the required reforms.
