France has formally recognized the State of Palestine, joining the growing list of nations that have extended official recognition.
French President Emmanuel Macron made the announcement during a United Nations meeting in New York, emphasizing that “the time for peace has come” and stressing that the ongoing war in Gaza cannot be justified.
President Macron also confirmed that Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, Andorra, and San Marino have recognized Palestine as well.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Portugal announced their recognition of the Palestinian state on Sunday (21).
