Bangladesh Defeats Sri Lanka by Four Wickets in Asia Cup Clash

Bangladesh secured a four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their Super Four stage encounter of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, played last night.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh invited Sri Lanka to bat first. The Sri Lankan side posted 168 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Kusal Mendis scored 34 runs, Pathum Nissanka added 22, captain Charith Asalanka contributed 21, while Dasun Shanaka remained unbeaten with a powerful knock of 64 runs.

For Bangladesh, Mahedi Hasan claimed two wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman picked up one wicket each.

In reply, Bangladesh successfully chased down the target in 19 overs, finishing on 169 for six.

Saif Hassan played a match-winning innings of 61 runs, supported by Towhid Hridoy with 58 runs and skipper Litton Das with 23 runs.

Sri Lanka’s bowling effort was led by Wanindu Hasaranga, who took two wickets, along with Dasun Shanaka also bagging two. Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera claimed one wicket apiece.

Saif Hassan was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Sri Lanka’s next fixture in the tournament will be against Pakistan, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi day after tomorrow.
