Russian Jets Violate Estonian Airspace, Tallinn Accuses

Published:

Estonia has accused Russia of violating its airspace after several Russian fighter jets reportedly entered without authorization.

According to a statement from the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets crossed into Estonian territory through the Gulf of Finland and remained in its airspace for about 12 minutes without prior clearance.

Estonia condemned the incident as a “blatant act” and strongly denounced the violation of its sovereignty. The government further confirmed that it has sought guidance from NATO allies regarding the breach.

Estonia also stated that its defense forces responded immediately upon the entry of the Russian aircraft.

However, Moscow has denied the allegations, rejecting claims that its jets entered Estonian airspace.
