Global Cricketing Community Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Dunith’s Father

Cricketers from around the world have expressed their condolences following the sudden demise of the beloved father of young Sri Lankan cricketer Dunith Wellalage.

Former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi shared a photograph of Dunith with his father on his official X account, extending heartfelt sympathies to the family and writing, “Stay strong, brother.”

Bangladesh T20 captain Liton Das, in a Facebook post, stated that he is praying for strength and comfort for Dunith’s family during this difficult time.

In addition, several other Bangladeshi players, including Taskin Ahmed and Towhid Hridoy, also conveyed their condolences.

Dunith’s father passed away suddenly yesterday (18) due to a heart attack, at a time when Dunith was representing Sri Lanka in the match against Afghanistan.

Following the tragedy, Dunith Wellalage returned to the country this morning (19) through the Katunayake International Airport. He was accompanied by Sri Lanka team manager Mahinda Halangoda.
