Sri Lanka’s Passport Drops in Global Rankings

According to global rankings, Sri Lanka’s passport has slipped by one position in 2025.

In the 2025 Henley Passport Index, Sri Lanka is ranked 97th, compared to 96th place in 2024. Iran also shares the 97th position alongside Sri Lanka in this year’s index.

The Henley Passport Index evaluates passports worldwide based on the number of destinations that can be accessed without obtaining a prior visa.

As per the index, Singapore has secured the position of holding the world’s most powerful passport, while South Korea and Japan have been ranked second and third, respectively.

Afghanistan continues to remain at the bottom of the index.
