Take Sri Lanka’s Corruption-Free Present to the World

Published:

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has told representatives of the World Bank that steps should be taken to inform the global community about Sri Lanka’s present corruption-free program, which would help attract new investments to the country.

This was stated during a meeting held yesterday (15) at the Presidential Secretariat with Johannes Zutt, Vice President of the South Asia Region of the World Bank Group, and a team of representatives visiting Sri Lanka.

The discussions focused on how the World Bank Group could support Sri Lanka in achieving its future development goals.

The World Bank officials, who expressed their appreciation for Sri Lanka’s current economic program, also suggested that greater attention be given to economic growth and job creation.

They highlighted key sectors that could bring short-term benefits—digitalization, tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure—while also emphasizing the importance of Northern and Eastern development.

It was further revealed that assistance for the programs presented by the Sri Lankan government has already been approved by the World Bank.

The discussions also covered the steps taken by the Sri Lankan government to establish the necessary legal framework and policy measures aimed at attracting new investments to the country.
