A fire in the Philippine capital, Manila, has destroyed more than 1,100 shanty houses.
As a result, thousands of people have been displaced.
According to foreign reports, authorities were able to extinguish the blaze early this morning after an extensive operation lasting nearly 10 hours.
No casualties have been reported from the incident.
The fire broke out in a cluster of shanty houses located in a suburban area of Manila.
