The Department of Meteorology states that today (16) the skies will remain mostly cloudy in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces.
Showers may occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
In the Uva and Eastern Provinces and in the Mullaitivu district, showers or thundershowers may occur in some places after around 1.00 p.m.
The department requests the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
