The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is preparing to present a no-confidence motion against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne, according to SJB General Secretary and Member of Parliament Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
He stated that the Speaker had unjustifiably rejected a no-confidence motion previously submitted against the State Minister of Defence, despite it being duly presented by the opposition.
Citing this development, MP Madduma Bandara further noted that the Speaker has failed to act impartially and has neglected to safeguard the rights of the opposition. As a result, the SJB intends to move forward with a no-confidence motion against the Speaker in the near future.
