The Department of Meteorology announced that several areas of the island are likely to experience showers or thundershowers today (08).
According to the forecast, showers or thundershowers may occur in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Hambantota districts, particularly after 1.00 p.m.
In some locations, heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is expected.
Meanwhile, light showers may occur in the Western Province and in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning hours.
The Department of Meteorology further urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
