The 159th Police Day falls today.
This year’s theme is “Uphold the Law, Value Peace.”
The Police Department of Sri Lanka was officially established on September 3, 1866.
Marking the completion of 159 years since its inception, a special commemorative ceremony will be held this afternoon at the Police Grounds in Thimbirigasyaya, under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Meanwhile, a special traffic plan will be in effect during the ceremony. Accordingly, the Police Media Division announced that heavy vehicles will be restricted from using Havelock Road between the Thummulla Junction and the Thimbirigasyaya Junction from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
