The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Colombo District, Uditha Liyanage, in connection with investigations into a treasure-hunting incident in the Thibirikadawala area of Sravastipura.
He has been arrested as part of the investigation into his wife, who has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Anuradhapura Police recently arrested eight people, including the wife of a Deputy Inspector General of Police, who were allegedly digging for treasure on land near a temple in the Thibirikadawala area of Sravastipura.
This was according to information received by the Anuradhapura Police on the 13th.
