Heavy rain after 2 pm today

The Department of Meteorology announces that showers or thundershowers may occur at isolated places in the Northern, North-Central, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces after approximately 2 pm today.

According to the statement, some places in those areas may experience heavy rains exceeding 50 mm.

There will be some showers in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

The Department of Meteorology urges the public to take necessary steps to minimize the risks of temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
