Former State Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa remanded

Colombo Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayatunga has ordered the remand of former State Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission this morning, until next (19).


This was after considering the facts presented by officials of the Bribery Commission and the defense lawyers.

The arrest was made on suspicion of committing an offense under the Public Property Act by committing the offense of "corruption" by receiving compensation and criminal misappropriation of property owned by the Mahaweli Authority.
