Thunderstorms Expected in Several Areas Today

The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers in several areas across most provinces of the island after around 1:00 p.m. today (12).

According to the Department, heavy rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters may occur in certain locations within the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva Provinces.

Showers are also likely during the morning hours in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Puttalam Districts.

The Department further stated that misty conditions can be expected in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva Provinces during the morning.

The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risks associated with lightning strikes and temporary strong winds that may occur during thundershowers.
