A shooting incident was reported at a house in the Omatha area of Elpitiya last night (05).
According to police, the shooting was carried out by an unidentified individual who had arrived on a motorcycle.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, though one of the house’s windows was damaged by the gunfire.
Police say the motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined, but preliminary investigations suggest it may have been carried out in retaliation for information provided to the authorities regarding local drug-related activities.
Elpitiya Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
