The Department of Meteorology reports that favorable atmospheric conditions continue to prevail for thundershowers during the evening hours today (05).
The department has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with these showers.
According to the forecast, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places across most provinces of the island after around 1:00 p.m. today.
In addition, showers are also likely to occur in the morning in certain areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Jaffna, and Mannar districts.
Furthermore, fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 millimeters or more can be expected at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Central, and Uva Provinces, and in the Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts, the Department of Meteorology added.
