President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to depart for the United States today (22) to attend the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to the Presidential Media Division, the President will leave the island tonight to participate in the global summit.
President Dissanayake is set to address the United Nations General Assembly on September 24 at 3:15 p.m. local time in New York.
During his visit, the President is also expected to hold bilateral discussions with the Secretary-General of the United Nations as well as several world leaders.
In addition, President Dissanayake will take part in a special meeting with members of the Sri Lankan community residing in the United States.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Mr. Vijitha Herath, will accompany the President on this official visit.
