Several firearms and rounds of ammunition, suspected to have been buried by Sampath Manamperi, were recovered from behind a house in the Mideniya area.
The discovery was made following interrogations of Sampath Manamperi and a suspect identified as “Bako Saman.”
According to police, the items unearthed included two gold-colored magazines, a 9mm pistol, a hand grenade, and 115 rounds of T-56 ammunition.
Investigations have revealed that the weapons and ammunition had been provided to Sampath Manamperi by Bako Saman approximately two months ago.
Subsequent questioning further uncovered that Manamperi had buried the cache behind the residence of one of his female associates.
