The Police Media Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wutler, announced that more than 9,000 complaints have so far been received through the WhatsApp hotline introduced for direct communication with the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
He further stated that investigations have already commenced regarding the complaints relevant to police matters.
The WhatsApp number 071-859 8888 was recently introduced by IGP C.D. Wickramaratne to enable the public to promptly report crimes and other problematic situations they encounter.
