Afghanistan Removes Books Authored by Women from University Libraries

Published:

Authorities in Afghanistan have taken steps to ban books authored by women from university libraries across the country.

According to reports, the Taliban administration aims to remove works written by female authors from the higher education system, alongside materials related to human rights and gender issues.

Citing non-compliance with Sharia principles and Taliban policies, around 680 books have been removed from university libraries, including approximately 140 authored by women.

The Taliban further stated that 18 subjects remain prohibited from being taught in universities, claiming they contradict Sharia-based doctrines and policies.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, internet services were also suspended in nearly 10 provinces of Afghanistan.
