Trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) state that, as part of their ongoing “work-to-rule” trade union action against restructuring, services such as power restorations, repairs, and bill payments will only be carried out during official working hours.
In addition to the work-to-rule campaign, the unions have also decided to launch further trade union action by reporting sick leave tomorrow and the following day. This announcement was made during a press briefing held in Colombo yesterday.
However, Minister of Power Kumara Jayakody stated that the new restructuring process would not affect job security, and that those unwilling to accept the reforms could voluntarily resign.
