CEB Trade Union Action Intensifies

Published:

Trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have announced that they will intensify their work-to-rule trade union action starting today (15).

The unions are protesting against the government’s move to restructure the CEB by dividing it into four separate entities.

The CEB Engineers’ Union, together with other affiliated unions, had earlier decided to stage their trade union campaign in three phases, beginning with a work-to-rule action as the first stage.

Although the strike launched on the 4th of this month has now continued for 11 days, the Engineers’ Union claims that authorities have yet to hold discussions or offer solutions to their concerns.

The union further stated that a decision on escalating the work-to-rule campaign will be announced following a trade union meeting scheduled for this afternoon.
