Tests have confirmed that 17 out of 20 chemical samples seized from a property in the Middeniya area contained substances used in the production of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as “ice”).
The findings were revealed through examinations conducted by the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.
On September 6, the Western Province North Crimes Division discovered approximately 50,000 kilograms of chemicals in Middeniya, allegedly intended for large-scale production of ice in Sri Lanka. The stock was reportedly linked to underworld figures “Kehelbaddara Padme” and “Kudu Nilanga.”
Information leading to the discovery was obtained from the interrogation of “Bako Saman,” an associate of Kehelbaddara Padme, who was arrested in Indonesia.
Following the raid, the seized chemical samples were sent to the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board and the Government Analyst’s Department for further testing. The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board submitted its official report on the samples to police last Friday.
