The Department of Meteorology has forecast several spells of showers today (12) in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya.
Showers or thundershowers are also likely to occur at several places in the Northern, Eastern, and Uva Provinces after around 1 p.m.
Fairly heavy rainfall, about 50 mm, can be expected in some areas.
The Department has further advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
