Former Presidents Vacate Official Residences Following New Law

Former Presidents of Sri Lanka have vacated their official residences in compliance with the newly passed Presidential Entitlements (Repeal) Act, which was approved on Tuesday (10).

Accordingly, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa moved out of his official residence this afternoon, while former President Maithripala Sirisena has also vacated his state residence, reports confirmed.

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is also reported to be preparing to leave her official residence in the coming days.

Meanwhile, former Presidents Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickremesinghe currently reside in their private homes, while former First Lady Hema Premadasa has been living away from her official residence since last year.
