Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic, Indika Hapugoda, revealed today (08) that the fatal bus accident which occurred on September 4 along the Ella–Wellawaya road near the 24th milepost was the result of driver negligence.
Speaking at a media briefing this afternoon, DIG Hapugoda stated that the 25-year-old driver had lost control of the bus, causing it to veer off the road and plunge approximately 350 meters down a precipice.
The accident claimed several lives and left many passengers injured.
