Colombo – A fatal shooting occurred in the Grandpass area of Colombo at around 11:45 p.m. yesterday (5), resulting in the death of a young man.
According to police, two unidentified individuals arriving on a motorcycle opened fire near the Mahawatte clock tower before fleeing the scene.
The victim, a 26-year-old resident of Kelaniya, succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. Investigators suspect that a revolver-type firearm was used in the shooting. The motive for the attack has not yet been established.
Meanwhile, another shooting took place at around 1:40 a.m. today (6) in front of a private bank along Panchikawatte Road in the Maradana area.
Police said two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle carried out the shooting and escaped. The injured individual is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital.
