The bodies of the Tangalle Municipal Council employees who perished in the tragic bus accident on the Ella–Wellawaya main road, which claimed 15 lives, have been brought to the Tangalle Town Hall for public observance.
The accident occurred on Sunday (4) when a bus carrying a group of excursionists from Tangalle veered off the road near the 24th-kilometer post on the Ella–Wellawaya main road, within the Ella Police Division, and plunged into a precipice.
Among the deceased were Tangalle Municipal Council Secretary T.W.K. Rupasena and 12 other employees of the Council.
Meanwhile, 18 injured passengers are receiving treatment at the Badulla Teaching Hospital, as well as the hospitals in Bandarawela and Diyatalawa.
