The Sri Lanka Customs has agreed before the Court of Appeal today (03) to release 506 BYD electric vehicles that had been held, subject to the submission of an additional bank guarantee.
This decision was made during the hearing of a petition filed by the company that imported the vehicles.
At an earlier court session, it was revealed that a committee had been appointed to determine whether the motors of the vehicles had a capacity of 100 kilowatts or 150 kilowatts. The committee consists of two expert professors from the Universities of Moratuwa and Peradeniya, along with two engineers from the BYD company.
