The Ministry of Defence has announced that the renewal of firearms licenses for individuals and institutions for the year 2026 has commenced.
According to the Ministry, the renewal process will be carried out from September 1 until December 31 this year. Renewals made after the deadline will be subject to late fees and possible legal action.
Relevant information and application forms can be obtained through the official website of the Ministry of Defence at www.defence.lk.
The Ministry further reminded that, under Section 22 of the Firearms Ordinance, possession of a firearm without a valid license is a punishable offence.
