A tense situation has developed near the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court due to a protest organized by opposition party members under the banner “Against Suppression.”
Reports indicate that some protesters are attempting to break through police barricades along Barrack Road to enter the court premises.
Police have deployed water cannon vehicles, riot control units, and officers from special task forces to maintain strict security in the area.
The protest has also caused significant traffic congestion in Colombo, affecting major roads including the Lake House roundabout and Kompagnaveediya, among others.
