The hearing of the petitions submitted against the bill to remove the entitlements of retired presidents submitted to Parliament by the government has been concluded.
After lengthy consideration, a three-judge Supreme Court bench consisting of Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, Achala Vengappuli and Sampath Abeykoon issued this order.
The bench also ordered the parties to file any written submissions related to this case before 12:00 noon next Thursday.
The bench also stated that the Supreme Court’s confidential conclusion will then be forwarded to the Speaker of Parliament.
