Mahindananda and Nalin’s bail application in the carrom board case postponed

Published:

The Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar today (25) ordered that the petitions filed by former Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Nalin Fernando—who have been sentenced to severe prison terms—seeking release on bail pending appeal against their convictions, be taken up for consideration on September 23.

This bail application was taken up today before a three-member High Court bench comprising Justices Mahesh Weeraman, Pradeep Abeyratne and Amali Ranaweera.

The lawyer appearing for the Bribery Commission informed the court that he had not received the notices relating to these petitions.

Having considered the facts presented, the bench ordered the issuance of a notice to the Bribery Commission, asking them to present their arguments regarding the bail applications of these defendants.
