Strong earthquake in South America

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale has struck South America today.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat.

Tremors have also been reported in the Drake Passage, a body of water between the southern tip of South America and Antarctica.

Previously, the earthquake was reported at a magnitude of 8.0, but the United States Geological Survey later downgraded it to 7.5.
