The British government says that liberalized trade rules will allow Sri Lankan manufacturers to source up to 100% of the inputs used in the final production of Sri Lanka’s garment sector from any country.
A statement issued by the British High Commission in Sri Lanka states that this facility depends on the item of clothing.
The British government has released details of liberalized trade rules that will give Sri Lankan garment manufacturers unprecedented access to the UK market.
These new facilities, under relaxed rules, will be implemented from early 2026.
The British government points out that the new regulations have been relaxed by improving the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS).
Accordingly, garments manufactured in Sri Lanka will now continue to be allowed to enter the UK duty-free.
