The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of Senior Superintendent of Police Satish Gamage, the Cultural Division of the Police Field Force Headquarters, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission, until the 19th.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeevani Pathirana issued this order after considering the arguments presented by the Bribery Commission officials and the defense lawyers.
The suspect opened three private bank accounts in the name of another person while he was serving as the Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of the Galle and Embilipitiya Police Divisions.
He was arrested and produced before the court on charges of receiving bribes and money laundering amounting to nearly Rs. 14,000,000 from organized criminals, people visiting the police and other criminals into those accounts.
