The second discussion of the Export Development Cabinet was held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (12) afternoon under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
A review of the decisions taken during the previous session, the challenges that have arisen in achieving the government’s goal of increasing the country’s export revenue to $36 billion by 2030, possible solutions to them, and relevant proposals were discussed extensively.
The Presidential Media Division stated that the President’s attention was drawn to a number of essential issues related to the development of the export sector, including the development of the gem and jewelry sector, Installation of a new scanner to make customs operations more efficient, pharmaceutical export industry, poultry export, tea export development, spice export, Export Hub concept, Trincomalee Port development, growth of export-related investments, supply of raw materials to the electronics export sector, entering into new tariff agreements and tariffs.
