Five people have been buried after another pile of soil collapsed on top of workers who were clearing a pile of soil that had collapsed on a house.
A pile of soil collapsed on a house near the Banyan Bridge on the Maskeliya-Samimale road today.
It is reported that this pile of soil collapsed due to heavy rains in the area, and while it was being removed, another pile of soil collapsed at around 12:00 noon.
Later, local residents, with the assistance of doctors at Maskeliya Hospital, retrieved the five people who were buried under the pile of soil and admitted them to the Maskeliya Regional Hospital.
However, doctors at the Maskeliya Regional Hospital stated that the condition of the hospitalized individuals is not serious.
