The Department of Meteorology, in a statement, states that several spells of rain are likely to occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces and the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts today (03).
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and Ampara and Batticaloa Districts during the evening or night.
Moderately strong winds of about (30-40) kmph are likely to occur at times in the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, and the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The department also urges the public to take necessary steps to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
