The Department of Meteorology states that showers are likely to occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Northwestern provinces today (15).
The statement states that heavy rains of up to 100 mm may occur at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces and in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts.
Furthermore, the department states that several spells of rain are possible in the Northern Province and Anuradhapura District.
In addition, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and Ampara and Batticaloa Districts during the evening or night.
The department also stated that strong winds of about (50-60) kmph are possible at times in the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee district.
