The Department of Meteorology announces that occasional showers are possible in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Northwestern provinces today (14).
It is stated that heavy rains of around 100 mm may occur at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts.
There may also be several spells of rain in the Northern Province and Anuradhapura District.
The statement states that strong winds of about (50-60) kmph are likely to occur at times in the western slopes of the Central Highlands, the Northern, North-Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee district.
Furthermore, urge the public to take the necessary steps to minimize the dangers caused by strong winds.
