The Matugama Police state that one person has died after being admitted to the Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara after sustaining serious injuries following an attack on two individuals with a sword in the Ambarullagahawatta area of Matugama last night (11).
The deceased, who was attacked in this manner, is a 23-year-old resident of the Nawuthuduwa area in Yatidola, while the injured man, who is 51 years old, is the father of the deceased youth.
A person had an argument with one of the injured person’s brothers at a drinking party, both parties left the scene, and then, based on the incident, had another argument in the aforementioned area.
The investigation revealed that the deceased and the injured had intervened in the dispute, and that the other person who had started the dispute had attacked and injured the other person with a sharp weapon. The residents of the area had admitted the injured to Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara, and one of them had died.
The suspect fled after the incident.
The Mathugama Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspect involved in the crime.
