Two fishing boats that had set out for fishing activities have been involved in an accident.

The accident involved a vessel that departed from the Devundara Fisheries Harbor and a fishing vessel that set sail from the Kalutara area.

It is believed that there were 5 fishermen on board the vessel that departed from the Devundara Fisheries Harbour yesterday evening (27) and it is suspected that the accident occurred when the vessel collided with a commercial vessel.

However, one fisherman has been rescued from the accident and brought to land, while the other four fishermen are reported to be missing.

After the Navy was informed of the incident, the Navy dispatched a search vessel and several other fishing vessels have already begun searching for the four missing fishermen.

Meanwhile, the police say that a fishing boat that had gone out to sea for fishing in the Moragalle area of ​​Beruwala, Kalutara capsized and two fishermen on board are missing.

It is reported that the missing persons are two brothers from the same family residing in the Aluthgama area who were traveling on a small fishing boat called Dhanusha Marine.

It is also stated that the people in the area are searching for the missing persons using boats, and the stricken boat has been brought to shore.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Air Force has deployed a Bell 412 helicopter and a Y-12 aircraft to search for the 6 missing fishermen.

That was on the orders of the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense.

Accordingly, a special search and rescue operation is underway.
